We recommend the use of a trained interpreter if you or a family member/ friend require assistance. Using a trained person protects your privacy, and reduces the risk of misinterpretation as medical terminology may be lost in translation.

A free government translating service is available 24 hours a day by phoning 13 14 50 

Auslan Interpreter Service

NABS is the National Auslan Interpreter Booking Service. They provide a FREE service to hearing impaired people who require an interpreter when visiting their doctor, specialist or allied health professional. If an interpreter is required for an appointment our friendly reception staff can help book a NABS interpreter.

TIS

TIS is the Translator and Interpreting Service for patients who speak languages other than English. They provide telephone interpreters and on site interpreters for patients. This is also a FREE service. Bookings can be made up to 3 months in advance. The minimum time frame prior to a booking is:

Telephone interpreter: at least 30 minutes prior to appointment time

On-site interpreter: at least 90 minutes prior to appointment time
